Lois May (Trickel) Hoover Smith, 81, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018.
She was born April 5, 1937, in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Louis Nicholas and Mattie Elizabeth (Snyder) Trickel.
Lois was employed by the USD 437 Auburn Washburn School District, retiring in 1999.
Lois married Eugene Earl Hoover March 3, 1962 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1981. She married Donald D. "Don" Smith on December 24, 1982 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Debra D. Hoover and Danielle M. (Jon) Bays-Broils, both of Topeka; a step-son, Eugene Arnold Hoover, Indian Town, FL; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one expected; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Murphy, Little Rock, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons in infancy; a step-son, Timothy J. Hoover; and a brother in infancy.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and cooking Sunday dinners.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Private family inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
