Lois Sterrett, 77, of Topeka, KS, passed away on December 21, 2017.
She was born on May 17, 1940 in Riley, KS to Lyman Walters and Violet (Buseman) Walters.
Lois married Michel "Mike" Sterrett on May 6, 1962 in Riley, KS. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2012. Lois served her family as a homemaker, and enjoyed being in the home as her children grew up.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Shane Sterrett; and a brother, Bob Walters.
She is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Scott) Schenk, of Topeka; six grandchildren; a brother, Dale Walters; a sister, Fern Thompson; and a daughter-in-law, Allison Sterrett. She will also be missed by her special lunch friends; and her favorite care giver.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. She also loved going to garage sales and second hand stores. She was a fan of KU Basketball and the Kansas City Royals, and watched every game on TV.
Lois will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. The family will host a reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where they will greet friends. Light refreshments will be served.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, 6th & Gage.
