Lois M. Walters, 95, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022.
She was born August 11, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver and Faith (Dean) Headley.
Lois graduated from Topeka High School.
Lois married Don L. Walters on November 27, 1946 in Topeka, Kansas. Don and Lois owned Walters Super Saver Grocery Store in the Potwin neighborhood.
Lois was a homemaker, a long-time active member of Potwin Presbyterian Church and most recently a member of Westside Christian Church.
Survivors include her children, Joyce (Jerry) Counter of Topeka, Amy Holland of Pensacola, FL and Emily (Ron) Heard of Burlingame; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Walters on December 12, 2012; daughter, Becky "B.J." Torrence and brother, Oliver D. Headley.
Lois enjoyed gardening, sewing, spending time with family and serving others with food and care. She also had a flare for writing poems which she shared with her family.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, September 2, 2022 at Dove Cremations and Funerals ~ Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, Kansas 66610. Celebration of Lois' Life will begin at 11:00 am.
Inurnment of Lois's cremated remains will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
