Lola Mae Bostwick, 93, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away July 7, 2017. Lola was a former resident of Gardner, Kansas as well as DeSoto and Hoyt. She was born at Halls Summit, Kansas to Phillip Ray and Edna E. (Ellenwood) Smith on July 29, 1923. Lola graduated from Hoyt High School in 1941.
She married C. Byron Bostwick at Hoyt on September 3, 1944. Lola was a homemaker and a food service worker for Gardner public school. She worked for Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka, and for a short time during WWII, at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant. Lola was a 4-H project leader, member of Crestview United Methodist Church of Topeka and the Grange at local, state and national levels. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading.
Lola is survived by her children: Larry Bostwick (Betty), Colorado Springs, CO, Clifford Bostwick of Goodland, KS, La Verta Greve (Robert), Topeka, and Roger Bostwick (Melanie), Ozawkie, KS; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter-in-law Patricia Bostwick, brother and sister-in-law George and Betty Smith, and her great-grandson Corbin Hall.
A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Crestview United Methodist Church. The family will be at the church on Thursday evening, July 20, 2017 from 6-8PM to receive visitors.
