Lola Katherine Killam, 87, of Topeka, passed away April 15, 2012 in Topeka.

She was born in Bent County in eastern Colorado on August 26, 1924, the daughter of Earle L. Bush and Katherine (States) Bush.

She was a graduate of Kansas State University with a B.S. Degree and Emporia State Teachers College with a Master's Degree in Education. She also graduated from the Flo Menninger Bible Class. Lola was a dedicated teacher for 32 years. She retired from USD 501 in 1983.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Woman's Club, and a life member of the Kansas State University Alumni Association.

Lola married Howard D. Killam Sr., on January 21, 1977 in Topeka, Kansas. He passed away on February 9, 1993. Survivors include a brother Edwin (Ila) Bush of Eskridge.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lola Bush Killam Scholarship for the Needy in the School of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University.
