Lola Mae Gibson, 93, Topeka died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.
She was born August 7, 1917 at Westmoreland, KS, the daughter of Jones B. and Emma Harmon Bradshaw and had lived in Topeka since 1941. She graduated from Salina High School, attended Brown's Business College and Kansas State University.
In 1935 she was employed by Kansas State University where she continued for some eight years, the last four of which she was Assistant to the Dean of Extension. After her move to Topeka, she was employed as Office Manager by the Kansas Engineering Society for 17 years. Following full-time employment, she was employed temporarily by the Office of the Secretary of State and the Kansas Legislature.
She married Guy E. Gibson, Jr. at Westmoreland on August 24, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, Stormont Vail Auxiliary, charter member of Topeka Auxiliary of Kansas Engineering Society and for many years an active member of the Women's Golf Association of the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Survivors include a son, Richard K. Gibson, and his wife Darlene; a granddaughter, Janet L. Boyd and her husband, Daryl; and two great-grandchildren, Grant M. and Erin E. Boyd, all of Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Mrs. Gibson will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel.
