Lola Marie (Reinhart) Nightingale went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday morning, February 15, 2016, at Homestead of Topeka. She was born on June 3, 1940, at home on the farm in Nemaha County, Kansas, the daughter of Wayne and Evaline (Stowell) Reinhart.
Lola graduated from Vermillion High School with her twin sister, Lila, in 1958. In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, she also worked as a school bus driver in Meriden, Kansas, a secretary, and for many years, as a legal assistant to a trial attorney. She loved being outdoors and spent several summers working in Yellowstone National Park as a tour bus driver and guide. Later in life, she learned to play the mountain dulcimer and enjoyed performing with a local musical group, as well as spending time with her beloved granddaughters. Lola was an active member of Southwest Christian Church in Topeka.
She is survived by her daughter, Teri Nightingale, Bozeman, Montana; son, Scott (Linda) Nightingale, Topeka, Kansas; granddaughters Audrey and Abby Nightingale, Topeka; and six nieces and nephews.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Connie Hoke and Lila Gaddis, and brother-in-law Larry Gaddis.
A funeral service will be at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker, Topeka, at 10:00 on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, KS.
