Lola B. Priestly, 96, Topeka, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at McCrite Plaza Health Center. She was born June 8, 1909, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Lester J. and Julia A. Kern Molz. Lola graduated from Topeka High School in 1926. She graduated from Washburn University with a BA degree in 1930. She later graduated from Kansas State University of Emporia with an MS degree in 1964.
She taught a total of 18 years, teaching at Hoyt, Lincolnville, Centralia, Harveyville, and Sabetha, retiring in 1972. She moved to Topeka in 1974, she lived there until 1977, Lola moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, and lived there until 1980 when moving back to Topeka.
Lola was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, Fellowship Class, United Methodist Women, Topeka Chapter #462 Order of Eastern Star, Past Matron of Areme Chapter, Effingham, Kansas, American Association of Retired Persons, and Topeka Area Retired Teacher's Association.
She married Fred M. Priestley June 1, 1932 in Topeka. He preceded her in death December 7, 1995. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter. Survivors include two sons: Russell N. Priestley of Branson, Missouri and Richard L. Priestley of Tecumseh, Kansas, three grandsons, three great-granddaughters and one great grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
