Loren Ray Reed, 81, of Topeka, formerly of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born July 14, 1940 in Waverly, Kansas, the son of L. Lyle and M. Caroline (Kershner) Reed.
Loren graduated from Quenemo High School in 1958. He was a Marine Corps Veteran. He was employed by Dupont for 15 years. He later owned and operated Reed Reconstruction as well as working with Hammerschmidt Specialties and Sturdevant Construction. One of his greatest pleasures was hosting the annual Reed July 3 Blast on the family farm where they resided for over 52 years. He raised cattle on the farm which provided many family and friends with hand raised beef.
Loren married Audry Genevieve Reed on January 16, 1965. They were married for over 50 years. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Earnest Reed, Ronald Reed and Ellis Reed.
Survivors include daughters, Sabrina (John Ramm, Jr.) Reed and Mindy Reed; son, Caleb (Michelle) Reed; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Wilson, Michael Holt (Joslyn Walden), Whitney (Dylan) Chastain, Justyn Cooper, Nash Cooper, Brinlei Reed, Lachlan Reed and John "JJ" Ramm, III; great-grandchildren, Talon Wilson and Zadie Wilson, Kylie Chastain and Charleigh Chastain and siblings, Mary Lou (John) Brown, Carol Ann (Max) Rickerson and Sharon (Don) Sieve and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
