Loretta Jean Yorkovich, 61, Topeka, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1945 in McAlister, OK, the daughter of James Everett and Alice Louise Birchfield Ward., and had lived in Topeka since 1984.
She received her RN from Kansas City, Kansas Community College and later graduated from Emporia State University as a rehabilitation counselor. She worked as a registered nurse at Bethany Hospital for 8 years, including service at Providence and St. Margaret's Hospitals, all in Kansas City.
She married Anthony William "Bill" Yorkovich, Jr. on Nov. 24, 1967 in Olathe. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Martin of Topeka, Julie Cox of Independence, MO; a step-daughter, Gloria White of Bonner Springs; five step-sons, William Ronald Yorkovich in New Jersey, Michael Joseph Yorkovich, Mark Yorkovich of Springfield, MO, Bruce Yorkovich of Gladstone, MO, Wayne Yorkovich of Tonganoxie; four grandchildren, Alexzander Martin, Nicholaus Martin, Noah Martin all of Topeka and James Cox II of Independence, MO; ten step-grandchildren; three brothers, James Allen Ward, Billy Ray Ward, and Lonnie Charles Ward and wife, Rosemary Ward.
Cremation is planned. No public memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 North Kansas Ave, 66608.
