Lorna Belle Montre, 96, Salina, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born Nov. 26, 1910 in High Point, North Carolina, one of ten children born to Jesse A. and Cornelia Taylor Welborn. She was raised in Topeka, moving to Wichita after her marriage in 1937. She returned to Topeka in 1997, and moved to Salina in 2005.
While in Wichita, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Rolling Hills Country Club, and the Nobelle Ladies. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. Following her move to Topeka, she was a member of the Topeka Woman's Club. She was employed at Fourth National Bank, Wichita for ten years.
She married Louis G. Montre on June 19, 1937 in Topeka. He died January 23, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Garry Montre and wife, Sandie; two grandchildren, Jeff Montre and wife, Kelli and Heather Montre; two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Madison Montre, all of Salina and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Hope Chapel, Topeka, with Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Montre will lie in state from 10 am to 4 pm today at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, Topeka.
