Lorna L. Tibbetts, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. She was born February 17, 1947 in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon and Vilas (Coonrod) Wohler.
Lorna graduated from Blue Valley High School in Randolph, Kansas. She was employed by the City of Topeka for many years.
Lorna married Lawrence Tibbetts on June 17, 1966 in Randolph, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2023.
Lawrence was born March 28, 1947 in Westmoreland, Kansas, the son of Merritt and Wilma (Huggins) Tibbetts. He also graduated from Blue Valley High School where he met Lorna and they were high school sweethearts.
Lawrence was broker and owner of Tibbetts Real Estate for many years.
Survivors include two children, Lee (Michelle) Tibbetts of Auburn, Kansas, Lana (Michele Bushway) Tibbetts of East Aurora, New York, six grandchildren, one great-grandson and four siblings, Eldyne Taskinen of Greenleaf, Kansas, Calvin Wohler of Clay Center, Kansas, Claire Wohler of Linn, Kansas and Leland Wohler of Palmer, Kansas.
Lorna was preceded in death by two siblings, David Wohler and Idona Peach. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Merrill.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Lorna will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the funeral home.
