Louina J.€œLou” Houpt

Louina J. "Lou" Houpt, 73, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on January 11, 1937 in Deepwater, MO, the daughter of Clyde and Maude Dodson. She has resided in Topeka since 1953. Lou was employed at General Printing for 10 years. She and her husband later owned and operated General Appliance & TV Service for over 40 years. Lou loved her family, friends and her Daschunds. She married Gerald L. "Jerry" Houpt on October 1, 1953 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Lonnie and wife Colleen Houpt, two grandsons, Tyson and Jason. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Lou will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
