Louis H. Keener, 78, of Topeka, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at a Topeka care facility. He was born on February 20, 1926 at Wakefield, Ks., the son of Lee L. and Augusta A. Bregen Keener. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was employed as a mechanic for the Kansas National Guard until retiring in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post. No. 1, and two senior citizen bowling leagues. He married Dorothy M. Benton on August 22, 1952 at Osage City, Ks. She survives. Other suriviors include one daughter, Terri L. Gibbs of rural Baldwin, Ks., one son, Everett L. Keener of rural Baldwin, Ks., five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jones of Abilene, Ks He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka where military honors will be presented by Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. Mr. Keener will lie in state from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N.
