Louise 'Lou' Hagadorn was born July 1, 1926 in Manhattan, Kansas and was a Wildcat fan ever since. Her parents, Frank A. and Lizzy (Paul) Hagadorn had five children, Lou was the youngest. Lou died peacefully Monday night March 30, 2015 at Midland Hospice House at the age of 88. Growing up in Gaylord, Kansas she started working at an early age helping her mother, Lizzy run the telephone office on Main Street. Following graduation from Gaylord High, Lou moved to Topeka in the 1940's to join her sister, Willena and family. Shortly after arriving, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and they became her extended family.
While in Topeka, she worked for the Kansas Power Light Company and then the Santa-Fe (BNSF) Railroad. After many years in the computer room working nights, she retired.
Lou was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church, ELCA Topeka and a lifetime Member (50+ years) of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed life and traveled when she could, celebrate Ground Hog's Day every February with a party since 1954. Lou was able to attend her 70th class reunion of Gaylord High School last May, and attended Michael and Meghan's wedding in Emporia this past October.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Frank A and Lizzie (Paul) Hagadorn; sisters, Eva (Ollie) Conrad and Willena (Delbert) Larson; brother, Paul Hagadorn; niece, Judy (Keith, survives) Gillis and nephews, Rex Conrad, Lawrence (Marjorie, survives) Conrad and James Hagadorn.
Lou is survived by a brother, Richard 'Dick' (Waneta, dec'd) Hagadorn, Silverdale, Washington; nieces, Donna (Dean, dec'd) Romere, San Antonio, TX; Cindy (Deane, dec'd) Eller, Woodland Park, CO; nephews, Randy Conrad, Phillipsburg, KS, Bruce (Sandi) Hagadorn, Anaheim, CA, Neil (Pamela Finney) Hagadorn, West Linn, OR; many great-great-great nieces and nephews. In addition, Lou had many friends and former co-workers who were loved and whose lives she enriched.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, east of 17th and Fairlawn, Topeka, KS, Tuesday, April 7th at 1pm with inurnment in the Vesper section near Willena and her family.
A Memorial / Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 11am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8th and Buchanan in Topeka.
