Louise Schmidt, age 86, of Topeka, passed away on March 7, 2014. She was born Alta Louise Brown, but to those who loved her, she was "Grammy Lou." Born in Jennings, Oklahoma on March 1, 1928, she lived in Russell Kansas in her early years where she met and married Gerald W. Schmidt. They moved to Topeka where they raised their family and were later divorced.
She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She loved decorating, making bierocks and doing many kinds of arts and crafts, she especially liked making beautiful Christmas stockings. Later she enjoyed working at Brookwood Jayhawk Drug and Hobby Lobby. She met Jim Black and they spent over 25 years enjoying each others company and their love for hot air balloons.
Survivors include her 4 children, Ronald (Debbie) Schmidt, Melanie (Craig) Trapp, Michael (Evelyn Richter) Schmidt and Lisa (Andrew) Wilson . She has 8 loving grandchildren, Tally Moore, Kelli Schmidt-Barker, Ronald Schmidt Jr., Angela Sanstra, Kristen Swart, Sarah Schmidt, Sydney Stoll and Riley Stoll. Great-grandchildren Tyler, Paige, Lindsey, Taylor, Sierra, Addison, Taryn, Kannon, and Miyah. We all love our Grammy Lou and will miss her terribly.
