Loy Gene Smith

Loy G. Smith, 76, of Berryton, formerly of Hereford, TX, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born May 14, 1937 in Hereford, the son of Loy E. and Frankie Mae Burleson Smith. Loy graduated from Hereford High School and attended Amarillo College in Amarillo, TX. Loy served in the U.S. Navy. He served in Law Enforcement for over 35 years prior to retiring.
Loy married Sue McAdams on November 26, 1975 in Hereford, TX. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Tracy Smith of Junction, TX, Teresa Dultmeier of Berryton, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his siblings, Judy Milsap, Sue Oberheim and Monty Smith. Loy was preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Smith.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
