George Hamilton Parker, II, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his home after a valiant fight against cancer.

George was born on August 3, 1941 to Donald and Thelma (Teubner) Parker in Fort Scott, Kansas. He attended Pleasanton Rural High School and graduated from Pittsburgh State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

George retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the Kansas Army National Guard after 28 years of faithful service. After his retirement from the military, he worked for Coldwell Bankers as a realtor. He also worked for several years as a computer programmer for Southwest Publishing. Most recently, he worked for Durham School Services as a bus driver for USD 501.

George was married to Judy Bartlett (Falkenstien) on March 26, 1984 in Las Vegas, NV. George was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka. He loved to play golf and was a devoted KU Jayhawks fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by two brothers, Don Leon Parker and Terry Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Parker of Topeka, by one son, Brent (Lynette) Parker of Hawaii; one daughter, Tracie (Ray) Spangler of Alabama; two step-daughters, Dianna Bartlett of San Diego and Debbie Kaberline of Topeka; four grandchildren, Rebekka Parker, Avery Spangler, Alex Kaberline, Kennedy Kaberline; one brother, C.H. Parker of Tahlequah, OK.

A rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. in Topeka with a visitation to follow until 4:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St., Topeka. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to either Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Topeka, KS 66604 or to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 .
