Luann Yvonne (Opitz) Long, 72 of Topeka, Kansas passes away peacefully Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

Luann was born on May 3, 1949 and was later adopted by Luther and Ruby Opitz who lived in Binger, Oklahoma during her childhood. She attended Lookeba-Sickles High School in Lookeba, Oklahoma. She later attended college at Kansas State University and earned two Master's Degrees related to Education.

Luann married Vincent Vic Lee Long on October 9, 1986 in Lawrence, Kansas.

Luann's teaching career spanned various schools including Highland Park High School and the Leavenworth School District. She retired in 2010 from Highland Park High School as a Special Education Teacher.

Luann enjoyed nature watching and caring for her beloved cat, Angel.

She is survived by her son, Justin (Gina) V. Long of Gardner, Kansas; her two grandchildren, Jakob J. Long and Kaylie M. Long and her brother, Jimmy Opitz of Leavenworth, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Vincent Vic Lee Long and her parents.

Honoring Luann's request, cremation is planned. Interment of Luann's cremated remains will take place later in the spring at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66606.
