Luanne Taylor Atkinson, 82, died peacefully on June 3, 2018 at Plaza West Care Center in Topeka.
Luanne was born on January 2, 1936 in Wheaton to the late Ray and Winifred Taylor.
Luanne graduated from Lillis High School. In 1956, Luanne married Gary D. Atkinson of Wamego. Gary, Luanne and their children traveled around the world as an Air Force family, living in places near and far such as Oklahoma, Maryland, Alabama, Japan, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Guam before settling in Illinois near Scott Air Force Base. In addition to raising four children, Luanne stayed busy with multiple jobs including becoming a licensed real estate agent in Illinois.
Luanne is survived by her daughters Nancy (Keith) Schulz of Sobieski, WI and Susan (Chris) Lovering of Victoria, MN; son John Atkinson of Jacksonville, FL; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Taylor; and son, David Atkinson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wamego. Luanne will lie in state from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church or Great Lakes Hospice.
