Lucile M. Atkinson

Mrs. Lucile Atkinson, 73, Tecumseh, passed away on Feb. 5, 2011, in Topeka. She was born on May 21, 1937, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Myron and Edna Coates.

Lucile graduated high school in Saginaw, MI, in 1955. After graduation, she joined the United States Marine Corps., serving from 1955-57. On May 11, 1957, in Norfolk, VA, Lucile married Roland Atkinson. He survives. She worked for many years as a secretary for Highland Park High School, retiring in 1997. Lucile was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church. She enjoyed camping, reading, attending military reunions, and coffee with friends at McDonalds.

Survivors include her husband, Roland, of the home; sons, Jeffery (Jo) and Greg (Michelle) Atkinson; grandchildren, Elise, Bailey, Walker, Hatti, and Eddie.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Highland Heights Christian Church. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
