Lucille Katherine (Warren) Howard,98, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011.

Lucille was born on January 13, 1913 in Vassar, KS, the daughter of George and Katherine (Trendel) Warren. She moved to Topeka when she was a young adult where she met her husband, Elmer Howard. They were married June 22, 1935 in Topeka. Lucille was always a homemaker who loved to sew, garden, cook and take care of family. She was a life long member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Lucille was also a church hostess for many years planning weddings, funerals, dinners, and various other activities. She enjoyed the company of many friends and relatives and always welcomed the challenge of helping others. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, Dec. 2000, her sisters, Inez and Jean, her brothers, Wilbur, Earl and Lloyd and a great grandson. She is survived by her two daughters and one son. Louann Meiries and husband, Bill, of Lee's Summit, MO, Nancy Jackson of Overland Park, KS, and Warren Howard and wife Bonnie of Topeka. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Virginia Skinner, six grandchildren, Shaun Jackson, Brett Jackson, Trevor Howard, Shannon Howard, Shelby Meiries and Devin Meiries, 14 great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31 at Grace United Methodist Church with burial following at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Howard will lie in state after 2 p.m. on Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 2627 SW Western, Topeka, Kansas 66611.

The family would like to give special thanks to the many friends and family who made Lucille's life special by being a part of her life over the years. Also a special thanks to the caring and helpful staff at Lexington Park who helped make her life comfortable and enjoyable during these last months.
