Lucille Meyer, 90, died August 18, 2010 at her home. She was born on November 2, 1919 in Palmer, Kansas to Herman and Anna Meyer.
She married Orvel Meyer on August 14, 1941, who preceded her in death in 1995. They had four children; Anne Will of Olathe; Dorothy (Ed) Gerhardt of Topeka; Jean (Ron) Barta of Evergreen, CO and Dr. Warren (Nanci) Meyer of Topeka.
Lucille lived on the family farm near Palmer with her husband and family and retired to Linn, KS in 1985. In 1995 she moved to Topeka to be closer to her family. She was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Palmer, KS and of Zion Lutheran Church of Linn, KS. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Topeka and their quilting group. She loved to garden and cherished the role of grandmother and great grandmother.
Lucille is survived by her children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (George) Zschoche of Olathe and Lois Gunlach of Prairie Village, KS; two sisters-in-law, Florence Meyer of Shawnee, KS and Ruth Meyer, Linn, KS. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka at 10:00 a.m. on August 21, 2010. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Linn, KS. Family will receive friends immediately following graveside services at Zion Lutheran Church. She will lie in state from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel.
