The Angels have called up Luella F. (Avers) Bagby, 75, of Topeka, on Monday, March 16, 2015.
She was born July 11, 1939 in Holton, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard and Catherine (Myers) Avers. She was a 1957 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.
Luella retired from Security Benefit and was later employed by Lowes in Topeka.
Luella married James E. Bagby on May 14, 1960 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2007. Survivors include two sons, Richard Bagby, and his wife, Patti, Topeka and Michael Bagby, Lawrence, KS; five grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth, Taramay, Samantha and Angelina; ten great-grandchildren, and one expected; a brother, Lyle Avers, Topeka; two brothers-in-law, George McWilliams, Topeka and Don Bagby, Weatherford, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sonya McWilliams.
Luella loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and being like a mother to all the children in her neighborhood.
Luella was cremated. A remembrance will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
