Lula Mae Huyett, 100, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at The Pines in Holton. She was born July 26, 1916 in Overbrook, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Ethel (Bame) Barbee.
Lula Mae graduated from Berryton Rural High School. She was employed by Brumme Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Rock Creek Bible Church.
Lula Mae married Delbert E. Huyett on August 18, 1934. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son, Wayne A. (Cheryl) Huyett on December 7, 1998.
Survivors include their children, D. Lloyd (Alice) Huyett of Topeka, Martin E. (Sharon) Huyett of Burlington, Wisconsin, Jeanette (Charles) Sheppard of Bonaire, Georgia, Joyce (Tim) Harris of Topeka, twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
Lula Mae will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
