Mabel Amelia Southard, 94, Topeka, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at a Topeka Nursing Home. She was born February 3, 1910, in Onaga, the daughter of Henry Berges and Pauline Kolterman.
Mabel was a school teacher in a one room country school in Central Kansas. She was an employee in the State of Kansas Treasury Department for about 30 years. She was also an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of the women's quilting group.
She married Harold Southard on December 25, 1936, at a farm house in Onaga. Preceeding her in death were her husband; one son, Payne Southard; and a grandson, Tony Weissbeck.
Surviving are a daughter, Selena Weissbeck of Colorado, a son, Chuck of Topeka; a son, the Reverend Dr Roy Southard, of Texas. 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be at 10a.m. on Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church.
