Madeline A. Stauffer

October 14, 1928 — October 27, 2018

Our Mother, Madeline Ann Stauffer, passed away into peace October 27, 2018. Maddy had just had her 90th birthday. She was born October 14, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska to Thelma Quinlan. Madeline was a beautiful woman that loved to experience life and have fun. She also loved to travel and did so extensively with Stan Stauffer. Before Stan, though, there was Jack Sargent. In 1958 Jack moved his young family of Madeline and four children from Topeka, Kansas to Palm Springs, California.

What a change! We became desert rats, while Dad played golf and Mom was part of the Desert Circus Girls, marching in the parade in their cute cowboy outfits. Mom and Dad met a lot of golf and Hollywood stars and attended a lot of parties. There are a lot of stories from the desert, but none of us kids ever regretted being raised in the desert or Mom's adventurous spirit!

The pull of the desert took Mother once again, this time to La Quinta where she bought a vacation rental and re-sale business called Santa Rosa Realty. She was really a hard worker and made the company a success. Eventually, from her travels to Kansas, she connected with Stan Stauffer. They fell in love and married in 1998. Maddy and Stan traveled extensively and kept the desert alive in their lives; living at La Quinta Country Club.

Maddy was very involved in her bridge club and supported Stan in his philanthropist endeavors with Washburn University and many other charities.

Maddy is survived by her brother, Gerald Quinlan (Carolee), Buckley, MO - children, Sharon Bone (Tim), Santa Margarita, CA - J. C. Sargent (Ann), Vail, AZ - Samuel Sargent (Linda), OK, Suzanne Sargent, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Please join us at Topeka Country Club on Friday, November 16th at noon and say "goodbye" to Maddy.
