Magdalena Mary Guyer 93 of Topeka died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka after a brief respiratory illness. She most recently resided at Atria Hearthstone in Topeka.
She was born Magdalena Mary Weigel on November 14th, 1924 in Topeka to Peter John Weigel and Florence Magdalena Ehrhart. Magdalena graduated from Capitol Catholic High School (Now Hayden) in Topeka and then worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell for approximately 10 years. She was always proud of her work in serving extra duty as an operator in connecting WWll soldiers returning home through Forbes Field to their families throughout the US. She resided in Highland Park for 45 years and was a long time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
She married Vernard M. Guyer Jr. on October 11, 1952 in Topeka and served as a homemaker until her death. Survivors include, daughter Janet (Edward) Gardiner and granddaughter Anne (Tyler) Trigg, son Paul (Sheila) Guyer of Topeka and grandchildren Megan Guyer, Michael Guyer, & Donna (John) Jarvis, son Mark Guyer of Las Vegas, NV and daughter Rita (Chris) Brault of Des Moines, IA and grandchildren Rachel (Mike) Klosak, Ryan(Kelly) Brault, Matthew Brault, Marc Brault and Aaron Brault. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Elizabeth Roderick and nieces Marilyn McKee and Barbara Parker, both of Topeka and nephew Albert Roderick of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, sister, Maxine Rose Weigel, brother, Peter John Weigel and her husband of 59 years Vern.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at her childhood parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed prior to service time. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
