Marcia Kathryn Kavel

April 28, 1939 — December 22, 2018

Marcia Kathryn Kavel, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She was born April 28, 1939 in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Kenneth O. and Ruth (Manley) Bonebreak.

Marcia earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Lock Haven State University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. She taught school in North Carolina. Marcia had resided in Topeka since 1972. She managed Aller/Guard in Topeka for 10 years.

Marcia married Karl K. Kavel on August 5, 1961 in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter; Jennifer (Kevin) Desbien of Lindsborg, Kansas; two grandchildren; Hayes and Isabelle and her sister; Anita Thompson of Orlando, Florida.

These are the facts of Marcia's life, but don't tell you about her as a person. She was the kindest, most fun to be with, and the prettiest girl I ever saw. During her school years she was an accomplished baton twirler and head majorette of her high school. She won many baton twirling competitions, and even a bathing suit contest. Being a humble person, you would never hear of her accomplishments through conversaton (only through family bragging). She never raised her voice, was very intelligent, and exceptionally oganized. Marcia was easy to get along with, and as my brother would state, "Everyone liked Marcia". Her word was her bond, and you could rely on that. Marcia was very musically talented, and played the piano until her recent illness. Marcia lived with an unrelentless cancer for the last two and half years. Not once in that time did she complain or say, "Why me?". She was the strongest and bravest person I knew. She thought her daughter and grandchildren were perfect, and loved them to the fullest. I will never meet another person like her.

Cremation has taken place and as per Marcia's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
