Marcia Hecht Lowry, loving sister, mother, and friend, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at
the age of 58.
Born on June 16, 1960 at Eglin Air Force Base, FL to Elmer and Bernice (Horton) Hecht, she
was the youngest of three children.
As a young Air Force brat, Marcia saw more of the world than many people do in their entire
lives. The Hechts were stationed at numerous bases in the U.S. and overseas.
Marcia graduated from Topeka High School. She received her broadcast journalism degree
from the University of Kansas in 1982, and spent the next 30 years as the owner and director of
Heartland Advertising. On May 30, 1987, she married David Lowry. They raised three children:
Steven, LeeAnne, and Michael.
Marcia was an entrepreneur at heart. She always had an idea for a new venture, and was
fascinated with the changing world around her. She also loved music, with a wide range of
tastes. Much of her life was devoted to providing every happiness to her children and
community. She is remembered as a source of joy and kindness to everyone she encountered.
Marcia is preceded in death by her father, Elmer, and her mother, Bernice.
She is survived by her friend and former husband, David, her children, Steven, LeeAnne, and
Michael, her siblings Gregory Hecht and Cynthia Hecht, along with numerous cousins, nieces,
and nephews.
