Margaret E. Ewing, 79, Tecumseh, passed away Sun., Sept. 14, 2008.
Margaret was born in Topeka, KS on Dec. 29, 1928, the last of four daughters born to John and Nellie (Peck) Frakes.
She was a graduate of Highland Park High School and received an Associates Degree from Washburn University.
Margaret married Merlin "Shorty" Ewing on Dec. 24, 1947. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2002.
She was an active member of Highland Heights Christian Church; she previously volunteered for English as a Second Language; more recently, Doorstep, Inc. and the Alzheimer's Assn. Margaret was an avid quilter and enjoyed reading.
Margaret was retired from Payless ShoeSource Corporate Offices.
She is survived by four children: Diane Wright and her husband, Lawrence; Larry Ewing and his wife Kim; Steve Ewing and Glenda Logan. She had 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by a daughter, Lola Ryall; infant son, Scott Ewing.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thur., Sept. 18 at Bethel Cemetery 3261 SE Tecumseh Rd. Margaret will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Wed., Sept. 17 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka where the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
