Margaret J. (Jaynes) Johnson, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Lexington Park Nursing Facility. She was born on December 10, 1926 in Neodesha, Kansas to Carl and Nannie McCarty.
She grew up and attended schools in Neodesha. She owned and operated Coed Café on College Hill in Topeka, which was lost after the tornado of 1966. She then worked for Bobo's Dinner for 23 years, where she became a manager. Margaret volunteered at Discovery Shop for ten years, Central Park Neighborhood Improvement Association and was a care giver for the elderly. She was a member of Central Park Christian Church where she served as Deacon for several years. She was also a member of Moose Lodge No. 555.
Margaret married Frank Jaynes, Sr. whom preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Gene Jaynes in 1960 and Frank Jaynes, Jr. in 2005.
On September 30, 2005, she married Fred Johnson, he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Becky (Steve) Frazier, Tryon, NC; two brothers, Don and Harold McCarty; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, December 10 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 6th & Gage. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 pm until 4 pm at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
