Margaret J. Johnson, 103, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born October 4, 1918 in Elk City, Kansas, the daughter of William R. and Effie I. (Titterington) Roberds.

Margaret attended Wayside High School in Wayside, Kansas. She had resided in Topeka for the past 25 years. She worked for 11 years for Hallmark Cards in Topeka and retired from there. While in Topeka, Margaret and her family enjoyed many hours of boating and skiing. She and Paul along with another couple started the Ski Club at Shawnee Lake. After her husband was transferred to Texas, Margaret decided to stay home and enjoyed quilt making, bead crafts which she presented to many of her family and friends. After Paul retired, they moved to Rogers, Arkansas. After Paul passed, she moved back to Topeka and became one of the first residents at Thornton Place. There she was very happy and joined in activities. She was instrumental in getting Bingo started and was very lucky when playing. A gentleman at Thornton Place decided she needed a sign that stated "Bingo Queen" which she proudly displayed on her scooter. In January 2020, she moved to Aldersgate where she lived until her death. She was happy there and was treated very well. In the last weeks of her life, Interim Health Hospice assisted in keeping her comfortable and caring for her. The family is very thankful for their care.

Margaret married Paul H. Johnson on September 5, 1936 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They were married 57 years. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1993. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary H. Johnson on March 29, 2010, one grandson, Alan W. Johnson on July 14, 2015, one granddaughter, Kathleen K. Starks on April 20, 2018, one brother, William R. Roberds on May 6, 1992, a half-sister, Wilda Roberds and a half-brother, Stanley Roberds.

Survivors include one son, Blaine L. (Sandy Mumford) Johnson of Topeka, four grandchildren, Terri Johnson of Topeka, Tammi Arellano of Topeka, Van Johnson of Topeka and Colleen Walker of Oklahoma, twelve great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, two great-great-great-grandchildren and her half-sister, Olive "Ollie" Roberds-Cole of Alabama.

Private graveside services will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Interim Health Hospice, 1251 SW Arrowhead Rd., Ste. 103, Topeka, Kansas 66604.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
