Margaret Mae Sandberg

August 16, 1930 — November 15, 2021

Margaret Mae Sandberg, 91, of Topeka, Kansas passed into her next life on November 15, 2021. She was born in Pipestone, Minnesota on August 16, 1930, to Frank and Gertrude Bruns.

As the seventh of 13 children, Margaret was an integral part of a close-knit large family - relationships that continued during her lifetime. This caring family bond helped her become the warm, compassionate, vibrant person who truly was loved by all.

Margaret enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, gardening and her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She excelled in making cookies, Christmas candy, cinnamon rolls and sugar Easter eggs with a miniature scene inside. All this, plus the innumerable kind and loving things she did always made it such a treat to "go to Grandma's house."

While living in Pipestone, she met Dale Sandberg, her biggest supporter, with whom she would celebrate 71 years of marriage. Together they had three children; Diane Knight, Stacy Sandberg and Kathryn Barnes; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation/reception will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 5 to 7pm at Dove Funeral Home, 3700 SW 37th Street in Topeka. A memorial service and reception will be on Friday, December 3rd at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, also in Topeka.

Donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, Kansas 66612 where Margaret and Dale were members for 50 years.
