Margery L. Fischer, 89, Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014.
Margery was born March 21, 1924 in Chanute, the daughter of Frank and Maude Sibert. She graduated from Chanute High School.
She worked as a Telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and later for Sears-Roebuck in Illinois and Kansas, but primarily a dedicated and loving mother.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 400, a past member of the Kaw Valley Amateur Radio Club and attended Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church.
Margery married Hugh P. Fischer on January 21, 1945 in Chanute. He died June 28, 1999. Survivors include sons, Jack (Karon) Fischer, Rolling Meadows, IL, Jon (Mary) Fischer, Frisco, TX; daughter, Joni (Philip) Stadler, Topeka; 5 grandchildren; and10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Margery will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
