Margret "Liz" Shrimplin Niven passed away November 14, 2009 in Colville, WA from an aneurysm. She was born October 13, 1933 in Hodge, MO to John and Lillian Shrimplin. She was raised in Topeka, KS, where she met and married Grant Niven on October 21, 1950. They had 3 children, Sandra, David and Daniel. Liz and Grant moved to Washington in 2007. She is survived by her husband, Grant, 2176 Kettle River Road, Kettle Falls, WA. 99141. Her children, Sandie (Red) James, Kettle Falls, WA; Dave (Janette) Niven, Silver Lake, KS; and Dan (Kimberly) Niven, Colorado Springs, CO. Her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Christopher and Jessie James, Jeremy and Matthew Niven, and Lucas, Sarah and Kari Jo Niven. She has 9 great-grandchildren. Survivors include her sisters, Charlotte Antzak, NY; Kathy Soenen, CA; Marj Shrimplin, KS; and Shirley Guenthner, NY; and her brothers, James Shrimplin, ID; Jean Shrimplin, KS; and Ron Shrimplin, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Marvin and Douglas, and great-granddaughter, Ashlyn James. Liz was a caregiver all her life. She was a stay at home Mom and homemaker, and her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Her greatest pleasure in life was helping and caring for others. A celebration of her life will be held at Capital Plaza, 1717 SW Topeka Blvd., in Topeka on Saturday, November 21st from 10 am till 2 pm, and those who knew her are welcome to attend. A private graveside service will be on Friday, November 20th.
