Marguerite Louise Clark Newham, 91, Topeka, Kansas, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born Feb. 20, 1912 in Bullard, TX, the daughter of Edgar
Shriver and Adeline Marie Foos Clark. She graduated from Bullard High School in 1931, and from Wyat Beauty College, Dallas, in 1932. She worked as a beautician for 10 years in Dallas. She moved with her husband following WW2 to Norborne, MO, where she lived on the farm for 52 years. She has resided in Topeka since Nov., 1998.
She was a member of the Hardin United Methodist Church, Hardin, MO, and the B.R.I.C.K. Class at the church.
She married Leland Eldred Newham on Dec. 12, 1942 in Temple, TX. He died April 11, 1989. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Shriver Clark, Jr., George Robert Clark, and a sister, Lillian Rebecca Diggins.
Survivors include a son, Gary Lynn Newham and wife Mary Ann, Topeka; 2 grandchildren, Gregory James Newham and wife Davina, McKinney, TX and Bradley Michael Newham and wife Krisha, Overland Park, KS; 3 great-grandchildren, Bailee Breanne Newham and Peyton James Newham, both of McKinney, TX and Jack Bradley Newham, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Adeline Marie Graves, Dallas, TX and Helen Frances Key, Bullard, TX.
A visitation will be held 6:30-8:00 pm Monday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Hardin United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to service time at the church. Burial will be in Wakenda Cemetery, Hardin.
