Marguerite Elaine Newman, born on January 10, 1944, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away on December 17, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Marguerite dedicated her life to education and community service. After earning her degree in Education from Bemidji State in 1965, she taught elementary education in Halstad, Minnesota, and Whitefish, Montana. Her commitment to fostering learning continued as she transitioned to the banking industry, where she served diligently for 25 years at Bank of America and another 10 years at Heritage Bank. Marguerite was also an active member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), reflecting her dedication to professional development and networking.
Throughout her life, Marguerite demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She took pride in caring for her children, returning to work once they were in school. Her love for travel was undeniable; she enjoyed 400 days at sea, exploring 67 different countries, enriching her life with diverse experiences and cultures.
Marguerite was known for her personable nature and her great sense of humor. She had a talent for making everyone feel welcome, often visiting with people and sending thoughtful cards that brightened their days. Her compassion extended to those around her, and she was always eager to care for others.
In her leisure time, Marguerite was an avid reader and a member of the Red Hats, an organization celebrating friendship and fun among women. She had a deep appreciation for the arts, particularly theater, and enjoyed sharing these passions with her loved ones.
Marguerite is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald B. Newman; her son Steven (Tracy) Newman; her daughter Jennifer (Noland) Bell; her son James (Colleen) Newman; her sister Suzanne (Michael) Liapis; and her cherished grandchildren, Cory, Erin, Lindsey, and Dinah. She also leaves behind cherished memories of her deceased family members, including her father Stanton (Bud) Amble, her mother Alice Elaine Amble, and her brother Gerald Amble.
Marguerite Newman will be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to family, her professional accomplishments, and her zest for life. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched with kindness and humor.
