Mari Elizabeth Black, 64, lifelong resident of Topeka, fell asleep Saturday, January 20, 2018. She was born on September 29, 1953 to Willie and Frances Lee Black.
She attended Topeka public schools and Washburn University. Mari worked in computer programming for many years. She was an avid reader especially enjoying science fiction and fantasy. She enjoyed crocheting, writing, gardening, cooking, singing and music. Her love of sci-fi lives on through her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three sisters: Ruth Jenkins, Carolyn Jones and Regina Hart; her nieces: Jocelyn Jones Steen and Regina Jenkins; nephews: Andrew Jenkins and Steven Jenkins; as well as a host of extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Mari loved God and accepted her Lord, Jesus Christ at an early age. She now sleeps awaiting the return of Jesus Christ. A celebration of Mari's life is planned for a later date.
