Maria Delcarmen Cortes

Maria del Carmen Cortes, age 39, of Topeka, died Monday, June 25th, 2012 at her home following a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. She was born June 16, 1973 in Mexico City, Mexico to Ricardo and Dulce Cortes.
Carmen was raised in Topeka and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1992. She obtained her CNA and CMA from KAW Area Technical School and was employed at Select Specialty Hospital. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her children. Carmen is survived by her parents, Ricardo and Dulce Cortes; three siblings, Dulce Smith, Ricardo Cortes Jr., and Ana Cortes; and her three children, Susana, Christopher and Carmen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 29th at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66606. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. and after the rosary, the family will greet visitors prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund for her children's education will be established at a local bank. Carmen's family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the family, friends, co-workers, and care givers for the love and support, the visits and assistance you have given during this difficult time.
