Marie Elizabeth Armstrong Clinesmith, 90, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008.
She was born September 14, 1918 in Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of Chas H. and Pearl (Edgman) Armstrong. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican in New Orleans receiving a BA in education. She taught at Orleans Parish Public School in New Orleans.
She was a member of the Rob Morris Chapter No. 1 of the O.E.S., New Orleans, Topeka Civic Nucomers, and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka.
Marie married John Thomas Clinesmith April 12, 1949 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on 1965. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles David Clinesmith and two brothers. Survivors include Johanna Burton of Topeka; two sisters, Grace Moody of Olathe, KS and June Mitts of Topeka; two brothers, Carl Armstrong of Port Orchard, WA and Fred Armstrong of Paola, KS; a granddaughter, Rachel Denise Burton of Topeka.
Mrs. Clinesmith was cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4746 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marie Clinesmith Memorial Fund, sent in care of Core First Bank, 2129 SW Wanamaker, Topeka, KS. 66614.
