Marilyn deLain Fire, 56, of Bonner Springs, passed away Oct. 27, 2010. She was born Dec. 18, 1953, in Topeka, the daughter of Paul deLain and Frances Smith deLain. She grew up in Pauline and was a 1971 graduate of Washburn Rural High School. Marilyn married Daniel Fire shortly after high school, later divorcing. She worked for many years as a rural mail carrier in Bonner Springs and Tonganoxie, Kansas. She was a member of Terra Heights Baptist Church. Marilyn very much enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing, walking, and cutting wood. She also had a love for her cat, Jill.
She is survived by her mother, Frances deLain; brothers, Johnny and Charles Lee deLain; sisters; Carol (Tom) Horton and Diane deLain; nephew, Ron Horton; great nephew, Cole Horton; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, who she dearly loved.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 89th & Ratner Rd., Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave., P.O. Box 8550, Topeka, KS 66608.
