Marilyn Irene White, 93, of Topeka, died Friday, February 21, 2025 in her home.
She was born March 1, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, the only child of Virgil and Marie (Hanni) Anderson. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948. Later she completed Executive Development courses at Washburn University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Marilyn was employed with the Better Business Bureau of Northeast Kansas from its inception in 1968 until she retired as President and CEO in 1992. She was a member of various civic organizations and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Marilyn married Wayne L. White on November 5, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. Their love of travel took them to over three-dozen foreign countries, all 50 states and regular family visits to Oregon. Wayne preceded her in death on February 25, 2014. She is also preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Cheryl White Griggs in 2003.
She is survived by daughter, Dorinda White Jones; grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Brendan Jones both of Ashland, Oregon, and Jarrod Griggs (Cheryl’s son) of Manhattan, Kansas; five great-grandchildren of Ashland, Oregon and extended family Steve and Dorothy Jacob of Bentley, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave in Topeka. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service start time.
