Marion Eugene "Gene" Kimber, 77, of Olpe, Kansas passed away August 15, 2012. He was born on August 3, 1935 to Marion and Bernadine (Truhn) Kimber at Henning, Minnesota. He was raised in Duluth, Minnesota. He joined the United States Navy in 1953 and served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his service career, he earned the National Defense Medal, Presidential Citation, Combat Action Ribbon and the Gallentry Cross. He retired from the Navy in 1972 as a Hospital Corpsman First Class. He remained in the medical career field after the Navy working as an assistant to physicians. Gene loved to participate in Texas Hold'Em tournaments and bowling leagues. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.
He married his wife, Norma on December 24, 1964 in San Diego, California. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Kimber.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Young and her husband Kyle; and two brothers, Steve Kimber and Mike Graber.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial service and inurnment will take place in Minnesota.
