Marjorie Evelyn Voigt, 86, of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006 at a Topeka care facility. She was born on October 26, 1920 in Commerce, OK, the daughter of Roy and Ruth Gustin Sanderson. At the age of 5, she and her family moved to Goodland. She graduated from Sherman County High School in Goodland in 1939. She moved to Topeka in 1940 and graduated from Stewart Beauty Academy in 1941. She moved to Tecumseh in 1957. She was a member of Tecumseh United Methodist Church and was a member of the Womens Dorcas Circle and the Golden Age Group, the Topeka Womens Club, a spouse member of the Santa Fe Retirees Group and was active with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. She taught painting and craft classses for several years. Marjorie enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and 6 foreign countries. Her travels also included 5 ship cruises. Marjorie married Willard A. Voigt on January 31, 1942 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Wayne A. Voigt of Topeka, one daughter, Janice A. Johnson and husband, Bob of Topeka, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Edward Sanderson of Austin, TX, William Sanderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Jack Sanderson of Goodland, 3 sisters, Marian Reimer of Hutchinson, Martha Williams of Topeka and Sally Carney of Bellview, CO, and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by one son, Gary T. Voigt and one brother, Harold Sanderson. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Marjorie will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
