Marjorie Ann Peterson, 85, of Topeka, passed away on February 24, 2018 at Midland Hospice Care after a short illness. Born October 2, 1932, in Malden, MA, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Deaton.
She was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Wakefield, MA; class of 1950.
Following graduation, Marjorie enlisted in the Army where she met and married Robert Peterson on October 2, 1952 in Fitzsimmons, CO. After his retirement they moved to Abilene, KS and spent many wonderful years there. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2006.
She enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, traveling and spending time with family. Marjorie loved her cat, Callie.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Ryan and a younger brother, Robert, who died in his youth.
She is survived by her three children; Michele (Craig Hiebert) Rufener of Topeka, Robert (Linda) Peterson of Arlington, TX and Sharon (Rick) Wilkins of Menomonie, WI, a son-in-law, Robert Rufener of Topeka, nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three siblings; Deanna Ryan of Abilene, KS, Roberta (Gary) Poor of Nevada and Raymond (Therese) Deaton of San Diego, CA.
A private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Abilene, 16th Street and Buckeye Ave, Abilene, KS 67410.
