Mark Barcellina, 56, Topeka, passed away on June 3, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Mark was born on February 11, 1955 in Topeka, the son of F. Dwain and Jean (Haller) Barcellina.
He graduated from Topeka West High School and received a BA degree from Washburn University. He earned a Masters Degree in Sociology from the University of Iowa and a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Kansas.
He was employed by the State of Kansas with the Department of Commerce for a number of years. Mark was an avid reader and runner. He participated in many marathons in the area.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Dwain and Jere Barcellina, Mesa, AZ; brothers, David Barcellina, Amherst, NY, Tom Barcellina, Manhattan: Tim Barcellina, Redondo Beach, CA; step-brother, Greg Osterhout, Tempe, AZ; and step-sister, Gretchen Osterhout, Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
