Mark E. Ratekin, 60, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away March 19, 2016. He was born November 6, 1955 at Bartlesville, OK to Eldon and Kay (Menelaus) Ratekin. He was raised in Topeka Kansas and attended SW Avondale, Jardine Jr-Hi and graduated from Topeka West High School in 1973. He attended KU and graduated from Kaw Area Technical School in May of 1995.
He had been employed by Pizza Hut, the State of Kansas and Wilson & Company. He was presently employed as an autocad draftsman at Ponzer Youngquist P.A, of Olathe, Kansas. He was a member of American Volkssport Assoc. Walking Club. He enjoyed collecting just about anything and had a large collection of Hallmark ornaments. He was often found working on his house and yard, gardening, tinkering with computers and working on his 1972 Dodge Satellite.
He is survived by his mother, Kay Ratekin and his brother, Kevin Ratekin, both of Topeka; and his cousin Gary Cavanaugh, M.D. of Stockton, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Ratekin; his maternal grandparents, Everett and Edna Menelaus and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Gladys Ratekin; and his aunt Yvonne Rusco.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service from 3-5PM. Private interment will be at Penwell Gabel Cemetery.
