Mark S. Steinbock, 61, of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 after a 4 year battle with lung cancer. He was born December 4, 1954 in Topeka, the son of Leonard and Gloria (Hurley) Steinbock.
Mark graduated from Topeka High School and attended KAW Area Vo Tech School. He was first employed by Topeka Metal Specialties. He began his career at the Santa Fe Railroad in 1973 starting as an apprentice and later became a supervisor in the Wheel Shop where he later retired.
Mark married Marcia G. Gibbs on September 17, 1976 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Lynda (Wade) Wasinger, and Valerie (Scott) Edelman, nine grandchildren, Dylan, Riley, Logan, Allyson and Madelynn Wasinger, Cayden, Carson, Tate and Sawyer Edelman and his siblings, Craig (Debbie) Steinbock, Nancy (David) Clark and Gary Steinbock and numerous nieces and nephews as well as his large extended family.
Mark was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amelia Wasinger and his sister, Darla Ferretti.
Mark will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel where the casket will be open. Closed casket services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to TARC, 2701 SW Randolph Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66611 in honor of Amelia Wasinger.
