Marshia Nadine Tibbits, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on December 12, 1926 in Topeka, the daughter of Edward James and Martha Josephine Gallaway Gray. She was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing and life.
Marshia married Harold Douglas Tibbits on August 23, 1944 in Lyndon, KS. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Patty Tibbits, one son-in-law, Junior Auten and one foster son, Ronnie Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Eddie Tibbits of Texas, Earl Dean (Nita) Tibbits of Topeka, one daughter, Ellen "Weggie" Auten of Topeka, one foster-son, Roy Blassingame of Topeka, eleven grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She takes with her Bodie, the last of her loving dogs as per her final wish.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Burial will follow. Marshia will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
